This large space is in an artist's studio building very near the border of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. The studio is a welcoming space with a restored gym floor and large windows on the east side. The space is rectangular and open, providing us with an ideal location for our practice.

Location

The Beautiful Studio is located in the Midway area near Hwy 280 and I-94 in Saint Paul, Minnesota. The site is known as the old Singer Sewing Machine Building aka the home of Puuuurniture where they make kitty furniture!

It's easy to reach from Minneapolis or Saint Paul via Interstate 94, or from University Avenue. Leave some extra time if you're traveling during rush-hour.

Class Entrance

The entrance is on Hampden Ave side of the building. The doorway is about 50 feet from the University/Hampden corner of the building.

Directions to the Building:

(Central Corridor Light Rail construction has affected travel on University Avenue, leading to the somewhat circuitous paths noted below.)

The Metro Transit 16 and 50 line go right by the studio, 16 stops at Hampden but the 50 only stops three blocks away at Raymond.

From the West, North West or South:

• Take I-94 East to the Highway 280 Exit, exit immediately to Franklin University exit.
  
• Take a right at first light onto Franklin and go one block to light at Pelham Avenue
  
• Take a right onto Pelham Avenue and go one block to Myrtle Avenue
  
• Take a left onto Myrtle Avenue and continue several blocks on Myrtle (jogging slightly as you cross Raymond) until you reach Hampden Avenue.
  
• Turn left on Hampden and park anywhere on the street or in the parking lot in the back of the building (to your immediate right as you turn onto Hampden).

From the East:

• Take I-94 Take I-94 East to the Highway 280 Exit, exit immediately to Franklin University exit.
  
• Take a right at first light onto Franklin and go one block to light at Pelham Avenue
  
• Take a right onto Pelham Avenue and go one block to Myrtle Avenue
  
• Take a left onto Myrtle Avenue and continue several blocks on Myrtle (jogging slightly as you cross Raymond) until you reach Hampden Avenue.
  
• Turn left on Hampden and park anywhere on the street or in the parking lot in the back of the building (to your immediate right as you turn onto Hampden).

From the North:

• Take 35W south to Highway 280 south.
  
• Take the Territorial Road/University Avenue exit.
  
• Cross University Avenue and go left on Franklin Ave SE at the next light.
• Go to the second light on Franklin Ave SE to Pelham Avenue
  
• Take a right onto Pelham Avenue and go one block to Myrtle Avenue
  
• Take a left onto Myrtle Avenue and continue several blocks on Myrtle (jogging slightly as you cross Raymond) until you reach Hampden Avenue.
  
• Turn left on Hampden and park anywhere on the street or in the parking lot in the back of the building (to your immediate right as you turn onto Hampden).
